Things I need to know before your branding shoot

Getting to know and understand your business before a shoot is imperative to be being able to create images that are relevant to your brand.

Every person and every brand is different, so I need to be sure I have a good understanding of both before we start shooting. 

Firstly, I exploring your website and social media platforms, so I can familiarise myself with the services or products you offer, your brand's visual style, and the way you communicate with your audience. This preliminary research also helps us start the conversation by discussing any existing images and identifying areas for improvement.

During our discovery call, I'll ask you a series of questions to delve deeper into your brand, better understand your vision and create a comfortable and fun experience for you.

Here are six key questions that will allow me to get to know you better and create a branding shoot that captures the essence of your business:

  1. What do you do?

    Sounds obvious, I'd love to hear in your own words about your what you do including, the industry and role. Maybe you are pivoting in a new direction, or maybe you have been in business for a while and you just need a breath of fresh air in your branding? Are you trying to attract a new target audience or expand in the one you already dominate? Maybe you are new to building a brand but know that images are an essential part of getting your online presence and you want to get it right from the start.

    Everyone has a different journey so we discuss what yours looks like and the destination you are trying to get to.

  2. What is your brand voice?

    Imagine your brand voice as the personality and tone that your business projects through its communication. It's like the way you speak and the style of language you use when interacting with your audience. And when it comes to a branding photoshoot, your brand voice plays a vital role in guiding the decisions we make.

    Let's say your brand has a lively and playful voice. In that case, we'll incorporate vibrant colors, dynamic poses, and energetic expressions in the photos. We might choose a location that complements this spirited vibe, such as a bustling city street or a vibrant outdoor setting. The more we can tell your story the more value you will get from your shoot.

    This is why creating an inspiration board will help with photo ideas. You can see what you like or don’t like in images and it can for the basis of a visual representation of the vibe of the images you want to create for your brand.

  5. What are your confidence-kickers?

    Everyone has their insecurities when it comes to being photographed. By openly discussing your concerns, such as specific areas you'd like to highlight or hide, or even your preferred side for shots, I can ensure your comfort and create images that make you feel confident and at ease.

  6. What are you known for?

    If you've already established a brand presence and have distinctive elements associated with you, it's crucial to incorporate them into the shoot. By showcasing what sets you apart, we can capture images that truly represent your uniqueness. An example of this is if your a know for wearing a certain colour all the time, or maybe you are know for wearing big earrings, or interesting glasses. Anything that makes you unique.
